Skin Beauty Body Pointers
Bring on the shorts and tank tops! However exciting it is to have the warmer weather approaching, some women may feel skin-conscious after being covered up all winter long! Here are some skin issues we know most women battle, but we’ve got you covered with some simple skin beauty-body pointers:
Dealing with Cellulite and stretch marks
Stubborn cellulite on thighs, hips and bottoms are an issue for some women. Stretch marks, in particular, are a common skin condition that women feel most uncomfortable with and typically occur during puberty, weight gain, pregnancy or bodybuilding. They initially appear as raised pink or red lines and can feel tender, itchy and painful before maturing to pale coloured wrinkles on the body.
While there is no cure to completely treat cellulite and stretch marks, products containing caffeine help diminish the look of dimpled skin. Caffeine works by increasing circulation, tightening and dehydrating skin, helping problem areas at least temporarily. Creams containing natural plant extracts claim to have slimming effects by draining, firming and refining your silhouette. Commit to applying it daily, and you may see the benefits of such products.
Faking the golden glow
Nothing looks healthier than glowing skin. A subtle warm glow also helps mask tiny imperfections and blemishes on the face and body. A tan brings out and highlights tone, definition and shape, no wonder it’s such an obsession! Spray tans are a great alternative to tanning in harmful UV rays; you can look like you’ve been basking in the sun, without any of the harmful damage. Bonus: fake tan means no tan lines!
As much as we love the look of a golden tan, staying safe from the sun’s harmful rays is essential for your overall health. While UVA and UVB rays are present all year round, they are especially high during hot, summer months, increasing chances of skin burning. Besides wearing protective clothing use an SPF of 15 or higher on a daily basis, including your face.
Rejuvenate skin after a long dry winter
Exfoliating is a great way to cleanse your body by clearing away dead skin cells to reveal soft, supple smoothness just as the weather warms up. Twice a week, start by dry brushing your skin with a loofah, body brush or exfoliating gloves before stepping in the shower. Once skin is wet, rub a granular exfoliator in circular motions, starting at the feet and working upwards.
Bare arms, shoulders and legs beg to look radiant. A long day at the beach, swimming in the ocean, or pool can leave your skin parched, and thirsty for moisture. Lather skin with a body lotion twice daily, paying extra attention to dry areas like elbows and knees. Look for quick absorbing lotions with no residue for a non-sticky finish.
Last, but not least…
Body grooming and hair removal upkeep is a pain, literally! However, there are plenty of hair removal choices to choose from. Shaving, creams, waxing or laser removal are personal choices, depending on how often you’re willing to repeat the process and the cost associated with each option.
